People living with disability in Bauchi State have been advised to key into the Federal Government program to improve their living condition.
The Acting State Director of the Agency Alhaji Nuru Yusuf Kobi gave the advice when he received members of the People with disability awareness and cooperative society on a courtesy call in his office.
Alhaji Nuru Kobi noted that the conditional cash transfer program of the Federal Government was meant to improve the wellbeing of the less privileged and the vulnerable.
The NOA Director therefore used the forum to advice the physically challenged people in the group that have acquired some basic skills like making hand bags, soap and perfume should take advantage of the GEEP loan through their cooperative society, the GEEP program is cluster of the social investment programs which seeks to address challenge of accessing finance faced by an estimated 40% of micro business in the country. Bauchi State is selected by the FGN/BOI as one of priority State where 30,000 beneficiaries are targeted.
He assured them that NOA will work in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure their inclusion.
Responding, the Secretary General of the group Madam Victoria said they were in NOA to seek close collaboration with the Agency to avail themselves with the details opportunity available in the federal Government Social investment programs meant for the vulnerable people.
She express concern over the inadequate recognition being accorded to the people living with disability and therefore called for change of attitudes. She sincerely appreciate the kind of reception accorded to them by the Agency.
