The Ogun State Director, National Orientation Agency, Mr. ‘Sola Babalola JP has identified deliberate disregard for the guidelines of both the Federal and Ogun State government on Covid-19 by the public as hindrance towards the process of flattening the curve of the novel virus in the country, most especially in Ogun State. The NOA Ogun Boss made this remark Tuesday, in Abeokuta, the state capital while featuring on Ogun State Television (OGTV) live current affairs programme “What’s Up on Covid-19”.Mr. Babalola applauded the tremendous efforts the FG and Ogun State governments has taken to tackle the scourge emphasising that unless the citizenry support the efforts of government by taking responsibility on their part, the steps so far taking to combat the novel virus may be in vain.He expressed his displeasure in the nonchalant manner in which some of the people daily disobeyed the #StayHome order of the government as well as inappropriate and non adherence to compulsory wearing of face mask in some part of the state. He also lamented the flouting of physical distancing rules by some people and transporters who are not carrying the prescribed number of passengers as stipulated during the free days of the lockdown.On the mandate of NOA and in view of the aforesaid, the State Director said the Agency is intensifying increased sensitisation and mobilisation of the populace to #TakeResponsibility in order to jointly with the government defeat the novel virus in the state and by extension the country. He said the Agency currently is on a simultaneous motorised sensitisation campaign of the general populace across the country on the dos and donts of the Covid-19 as well as their expectant role in flattening the curve.On incessant flouting of the interstate ban, the State Director commended the security agencies in enforcing the ban thus far but implored it to be more observant of antics of the motorists and commercial transport operators for effective enforcement.On palliatives distribution, he commended the efforts of the state government but admonished the local committee to adopt more proactive measure and not to relent in making sure all those the palliatives are meant for receives it.NOA OGUN STATE Directorate
