The Director General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Garba Abari has urged Nigerians to embark on massive tree plant to check desertification in the country.

He spoke at the flag off of the 2017 Tree Planting Project by residents of Brick City Estate in Kubwa, an Abuja suburb, saying massive tree planting is essential to healthy living in our communities.

Represented by the Director of Publications, Documentation and Translation (DTP) in the Agency, Davidson Aminu, the Director General pledged to deploy the massive structure of the Agency to ensure sensitization of the public on issues of environmental protection.

In his words: “Planting of trees is significant and imperative because they are essential to life. Trees contribute to the environment by providing oxygen and improving the quality of air in the environment. They are also useful in soil preservation and conservation of water”

He also commended the effort of Fun and Fitness Club, organizers of the exercise, for the initiative.
