The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation held a press briefing yesterday, featuring key government officials including the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alh Mohammed Idris; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. George Akume; the Minister of Budget and Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmud; the DG National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu; permanent secretaries; heads of government parastatals; and members of the press.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation opened the briefing, stating that it was designed to set the tone for activities marking the one-year anniversary of the present administration, which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has insisted should be low-key. He announced that in the coming days, various ministers would hold sectoral briefings to highlight their ministries’ activities and achievements over the past year. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and ensure government resources are used for the benefit of the people, in line with President Tinubu’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. George Akume, reiterated the administration’s commitment to its agenda of renewed hope, which includes job creation, economic revitalization, anti-corruption efforts, foreign investment policies, infrastructure development, healthcare expansion, security enhancement, improved electricity generation, and more. He emphasized that nation-building is a joint responsibility of the government and the people, calling on all Nigerians to collaborate in building a great nation.
