In a show of leadership by example, the acting State Director, National Orientation Agency,Kwara State, Mr Olusegun Adeyemi was the resources person at the In-House Seminar organized for staff  to explain the components of the Buhari-led administration’s social investment programme which has since commenced.

In his presentation, Mr Olusegun Adeyemi identified the four components of the SIP to include N-power, Graduate Empowerement and Entreprenurship Programme, Conditional Cash transfer and Home Grown School Feeding Programme(HGSFP) noting that over N41 billion have been spent on the programme so far. The N-power, which is the job programme for unemployed graduates was identified as the single largest spending out of the four and which already absorbed 200,000 youths and is set to employ another 300,000 youths who are to receive N30,000 monthly. He also noted that the HGSFP is targeting 5.5 million primary school pupils in all the states of the federation but with the pilot scheme holding in few states.

The details of the two other SIP components were thoroughly discussed after which participants made contributions, suggestions and asked various questions which were properly answered.  Some of the comments bothered on monitoring of Npower beneficiaries, future plans of government for unemployed youths, the recurrent issue of clashes between farmers and herdsmen and strike action by Teachers of Federal government Colleges owing to non-payment of their salaries and entitlements.
