The joint monthly interactive session of Lagos State Community Development Committee (CDC) was held at the Lagos Mainland Local Government Conference hall on Thursday 27th April, 2017.

The programme initiated by the State Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, had the Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lagos State as the Guest Speaker.

Speaking at the occasion, the Guest Speaker, Mr. Waheed Ishola applauded the Lagos State Government for the introduction of Lagos State Health Scheme, a scheme which has been in operation at the Federal level as National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), he enjoined the participants to embrace the scheme because it’s the way to go in providing affordable healthcare services at a reasonable cost to the citizens of the state.

Mr. Ishola used the occasion to educate the participants on the environmental hazards of dumping refuse into water-ways, gutters and canals especially now that the rains are here. He tasked the CDC officials to be in the vanguard of securing such places in their communities. Government understands and appreciates their support in the grassroot because they are partners in progress.

Speaking further on the forthcoming Local Government Election in the State, he urged the participants to carry the message of active participation to their various Communities. To see that they are properly registered, collect their Permanent Voters Card and ensure they vote for the candidate of their choice.

He tasked the people on the Change Mantra of the present Government which in context is for us to see our personal behavior on how we conduct ourselves, engage our neighbours, friends and generally how we relate to the larger society in a positive way and manner that promotes our common good. He also used the opportunity to enlighten the audience on the on going partnership between NOA and NCC Campaign on the DO NOT DISTURB”, which he said is against the back drop on solicited messages from Telecom service providers. A campaign which he said will be taken down to length and breadth of the state.

In his welcome speech, the Sole Administrator, Mainland Local Government, Hononurable Adedoyin Rojaiye charged the participants to conduct themselves with maturity and show interest in the lectures to be delivered. He noted that within the short period of his appointment, much has being achieved especially in the area of empowering the physically challenged, repairing of culverts, community welfare packages amongst others.

The event was attended by all the leaders of Community Development Councils in the state, Lagos State Healthcare Scheme, SSA to Lagos State Governor on Community Affairs; SA on Communities and Communication (Min. of Local Govt and Community Affairs) and others.
