With the grass-root reach and active sensitization, mobilization and orientation of the people by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), on government programmes, policies and activities, the Lions Clubs International, District 404B2, a non-governmental organization with similar volunteer programmes in communities sort for a robust partnership with the Agency in impacting the people at the grass-root.
To this end, the 1st Vice District Gov’nor, 404B2, Lion Wesley O. Kafidiya; Past Council Chairman, Lion (Engr.) Jaiye Balogun; Carbinet Secretary, Lion Matthew Fapohunda and Personal Assistant to the District Gov’nor, Lion Nike Ajegunmo paid a working visit on Friday 11th July, 2018 to the State Headquarters of National Orientation Agency, Ikeja Lagos for a joint meeting of collaboration.
The Director, National Orientation Agency, Mr. Waheed Ishola assured the team that once all formalities are strengthened out, the partnership will see the light of the day. He noted that Lions Clubs and NOA had many things in common in terms of positive people oriented activities, like enlightening the communities on the issue of diabetes, vision and eye care, keeping the environment clean etc. Furthermore, the Director noted that his admiration for the club steams from the fact that it is apolitical in nature but human related non-governmental organisation known worldwide. He thanked the officials for finding the Agency worthy to partner.
The Past Council Chairman, Lion (Engr.) Jaiye Balogun in his vote of thanks remarked that the organisation is essential to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions Clubs.
