The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Garba Abari has called on workers to look beyond the march past of May Day and reflect on their role as major stakeholders in the emergence of the country from economic recession.

In a May Day message to Nigerian workers outlined during a meeting with staff of the Agency in Abuja, Abari said workers at all levels need to be engaged and contribute their own quota for the development of the nation, especially at this time of recession.

He urged workers to be patient and resilient in support of the government since the solution to the economic challenges facing the nation lies in unity of purpose and action.

The Director-General said “The Nigerian worker has a stake in the economic wellbeing of this nation. Even at this period of recession, the Nigerian worker has a greater role in the nation’s exit from recession. Therefore, we must work hard, increase the productivity of the worker so that the projected period for the end of recession will be realized.”

He promised to continue to run an open door administration in the Agency that will encourage greater involvement of staff in its running. He also congratulated them as they celebrate May Day.
