The United Nations’ Climate Change Summit, otherwise called COP 28, recently held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, focused on finance and trade, with the launch of the Fund raiser to fight the abuses from Climate Change.

At the launch, many high income countries made financial pledges and over a billion U.S Dollars were raised from these initial pledges.

2. Nigeria and Germany signed a performance agreement on the implementation of the Presidential Power Initiative, (PPI), to improve the electricity in the country.

3. Another MOU was signed between Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency,(REA)/National Agency For Science and Engineering Infrastructure, (NASENI) and Shenzhen Technology Development Company, China, to develop and establish a Lithium Battery Manufacturing and Processing Factory in Nigeria.

4. Nigerian Renowned Poet, Maryam Bukar-Hassan was the guest of the UAE and hosted by HRH, President of the UAE, Mohammed bin Zayed bin Al Nahyan and Dr. Sultan Jabeer, President of the COP28, where she performed one of her poems on “neglected tropical diseases rampant amongst vulnerable children and women”.

The COP28, specifically focused on the climate change and the obligations therein for the nations covered by the treaty binding the 198signees, which are 197 Countries and the European Union.
