For a more robust and massive grass-root registration of citizens of Nigeria into the data base of National Identity Card Management Commission (NIMC), the management team of NIMC Lagos Region, on Friday the 3rd of August 2018 at the State Headquarters of National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Ikeja, held a one day training workshop for staff of the Agency on awareness creation.

The Lagos Regional Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Adegoke noted that with NOA’s staff in all the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA), speaking the language of the people, it is believed that a massive awareness would be created in the grass-root about the activities and policies of the Commission in getting the people properly registered.

In his remarks, the Director, National Orientation Agency, Lagos Directorate, Mr. Waheed Ishola commended NIMC for recognizing the role of NOA. He noted that as a matter of national issue, partnering with NIMC is to ensure that all citizens and legal residents in the country are adequately registered and captured in NIMC database. He urged all staff to pay particular attention to the operations of the Commission as to be on the same page while on the field. Furthermore, he promised to carry out a motorized campaign across the local government areas of the state and equally include NIMC’s activities into the Agency’s programmes to see that the desired goal is achieved.

The training workshop covered issues about:

  1. How to get Registered
  2. Who is illegible to register
  3. Where to be registered (Venue)
  4. Permanent and variable issues
  5. Features of the Card and Handling procedures amongst others.

The workshop was handled by Lagos Regional Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Adegoke; Lagos West State Coordinator, Mrs. Funmi Opesanwo; Local Government Coordinator, Mr. Shola Sotayo and Lagos East Coordinator Support Staff, Ms. Olojo Temitope all of National Identity Card Commission (NIMC).
