In furtherance of its mandate of communicating programmes, policies and activities, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in collaboration with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) carried out a one-day sensitization workshop for all NOA Directors. The workshop, with the topic “Currency Redesign: Details and Benefits”, held at the Agency’s headquarters on 9th January, 2023.

The aim of the workshop was to build Directors’ capacity for effective communication, messaging and information dissemination of CBN’s policies, programmes, and contents on Naira redesign. With the current series of N200, N500 and N1,000 notes remaining a legal tender until the deadline of January 31, 2023 and the need for effective public sensitization about the new currency notes, NOA’s partnership with CBN is very timely.

The collaborative effort entails building the capacity of NOA staff and subsequent advocacy, sensitization and enlightenment campaigns by NOA on the naira redesign across the country.

In attendance at the workshop were Directors of the Agency from the headquarters, 36 states and FCT as well as 4 Directors of the CBN. The training had both physical and virtual participation.

The presentation session was facilitated by the Director, Currency Operation, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Umar Bello. The presentation sought to drive awareness and deepen understanding of the concept of Naira redesign amongst participants.
