The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has once again demonstrated its readiness to instill right attitudes in Nigerians as the Agency’s campaign focuses on secondary school students in the FCT at a programme tagged ‘Value Reorientation.’
Director-General of NOA, Garba Abari decried level of moral decadence in our society, saying damaging effects of poor attitudes among youths were too terrible to ignore.
“The time has come for all Nigerians, including youths, to embrace change in our overall outlook to life. The time has come for our youths to return to our age-long core values,” Abari stressed.
On Her part, Senior Special Adviser (SSA) to the President on Diaspora and Foreign Affairs, Abike Dabiri-Erewa challenged youths to be hard working, while she narrated her story to encourage students at the Value Reorientation programme.
Earlier, Director, Political, Civic, Ethics and Values of NOA, Mrs. Ngozi Ekeoba in her welcome address said statistics have shown that over 60 percent of Nigeria’s population consists of young people which necessitated the need to ‘significantly’ capture them through a programme like this.
Mr. Linus Okorie made a presentation on ‘Inculcation of Positive Values as a Panacea to Social Vices in Educational Institutions’, highlighted system to include: learning system, integrity, vision and enterprise. He advised youths to dream big and be patriotic.
The event is part of NOA’s efforts to rid the nation of social vices and instill right attitudes in Nigerians to be about a desired nation. The programme was attended by selected secondary schools from the FCT.
