The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in conjunction with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) organized a one day interactive forum on Citizens’ Conversation with Elected Public Officials in Kwara State. The programme which was held at Whitefield Hotels Ltd Ilorin, on 4th April, 2017, had in attendance about 200 participants representing different stakeholders.The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Alh. AbdulFatah Ahmed ably represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties Evang. (Mrs.) Felicia Faremi, The Speaker Kwara State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Ali Ahmed represented by Majority Leader Hon. Hassan Oyeleke and other Hon. members Kwara State House of Assembly were also in attendance. Others dignitaries present were members of the Kwara State Executive and Security Council, Traditional Rulers, Chairman of Local government Areas, General Managers of Media houses, Executive Programme director of Self-reliance Economic Advancement Programme (SEAP) Pastor (Dr) Olatunde Oladoku., Associate Prof. Joseph Fayeye of the Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin was the guest speaker at the forum.         

in his welcome address, NOA Kwara State Director Mr. Olusegun Adeyemi (JP), commended the major stakeholders presents at the forum. He expressed appreciation to the Kwara State Government for its support to the agency.

The representative of the Director General of NOA Mrs. Ngozi Ekeoba in her remarks thanked Konrad Adenauer Shiftung Foundation for partnering with the Agency and asserted that the programme will strengthen the rule of the law, separation of powers and create awareness among stakeholders on good governance.

Other Speakers include, the representative of Konrad Adenauer Shiftung (KAS) Mr. Samson Adeniran, ALGON Chairman and the guest Speaker Associate Prof. Joseph Fayeye from the Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies University of Ilorin. His address titled ‘Citizens’ Conversation with Elected Representatives as Participation and Involvement in promoting good governance and national interest’ emphasized the roles of citizens in governance and how public discourse can generate positive political culture.

 The Majority Leader Hon. Hassan Oyeleke, representing the Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. (Dr) Ali Ahmad presented an highlight of the  various activities of the Kwara State House of Assembly, explaining the functions and duties of legislators in the State and the nation at large.
