As part of efforts to mobilize and sensitize the citizenry to support the policies of the present administration, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) says its doors are open to the media for strategic partnership in the interest of national reorientation.

Director General of NOA, Garba Abari made this known when he received the management team of National Mirror Newspapers led by the Managing Director, Sunday Olajide on a working visit.

Abari said that as an information Agency, “NOA owes the citizens proper explanation as to why they are facing the current challenges of dwindling economy, insecurity and others”, noting that the Agency is also a conduit through which government gets feedbacks from the citizenry communicate back to them. He said NOA is a development Agency whose functions affect all citizens of the country, as it engages them to obey law and order, love their country and respect constituted authority.

The DG NOA said with the recent events in the country, NOA and the media are compulsory partners for the sake of the country and therefore must mobilize to change attitudes, adding that the Agency and the National Mirror Newspapers are strategizing to churn out necessary information about the current economic situation to engender public understanding. Describing the media as a very important developmental force in any society, he disclosed that NOA would partner The National Mirror in the area of staff training.

In his remarks, the Managing Director, National Mirror Newspapers, Mr. Sunday Olajide said NOA and the media are intertwined in the sense that both are engaged in similar functions to properly inform citizens. He emphasized the role of the Agency in values re-orientation and behavioural change amongst citizens, offering partnership with NOA to train its staff on news and features writing.
