As part of efforts to draw global attention to the reintegration of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North-East of the country, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the 12-12 Polo and Turf Club are strategizing toward encouraging the revitalization of education in the North-East through a National Orientation Cup Polo tournament tagged “Future Secured Polo Series” to promote the confidence of IDPs.
Director General of the Agency, Garba Abari made this known when the Polo Club board members paid a working visit on him in Abuja, led by the Club’s Advisory Board Chairman, Murtala Aliyu.
Abari commended the Polo club for living up to its social responsibility, noting that the trauma, socio-economic and political dislocation caused by insurgency in the North-East calls for all well-meaning Nigerians to contribute toward rebuilding the zone. He urged the Club to broaden the scope of its partnership with different organizations to promote national unity and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians irrespective of tribal, regional and religious affiliations.
The DG NOA, who said Polo can be used to succor and start a new life for the IDPs, assured of the availability of the Agency’s robust platforms with massive information channels to create awareness of the activities of the polo club toward promoting unity, mutual tolerance and peaceful co-existence for national development.
Earlier, the Chairman, Advisory Board of the Polo Club, Murtala Aliyu said the club is a Nigerian Project that contributes to nation building through creation of awareness about national issues, adding that the Future Secured international tournament Series would promote education with emphasis on the Northeast.
The Chairman commended the effectiveness and efficiency of NOA’s platforms in information dissemination and their wide reach to the populace at the grassroot level of the society. This, he said, informed the dedication of the polo trophy to the Agency by the Club in the optimism that the tournament will help draw attention to the urgent educational development needs in the North East.
