The Director General, National Orientation Agency (NOA) Garba Abari has called on Nigerians to be proactive and make painstaking efforts in choosing leaders that will impact and manage the affairs of the country meaningfully, irrespective of ethnic and religious affiliations.
Abari made the call at the Ahamudu Bello University Annual Leadership Workshop in Zaria, Kaduna State. He said that it was thoughtful and worthwhile for a student body to organize such a forum to identify among them those with leadership potentials, noting that such efforts will guarantee and form the fulcrum for future Nigerian leaders.

The DG lamented that the present crisis in the country was due to failure of leadership over the years and their inability to manage affairs and other aspect of our national life properly, leading to high rate of moral decadence and retarded development of our country. He therefore appreciated the University for establishing traditional leadership forum for easy identification of leaders that have potentials for national development.
In his words, “It is a worthwhile initiative and we will align the Agency’s programme to this great initiative as a way to encourage the students in this noble cause, a cause which is purpose – driven and beneficial for the development of our country,” Abari posited.

The Guest Speaker of the Occasion, Bashir Bugaje said that Nigerians must start understanding the clear definition of leadership, stating that leadership must have qualities and vision for the well being of the citizenry and development of the country.
Bugaje called on the youth of the country as stakeholders to imbibe characters that will help to build the nation we desire.
In his remark, the Vice Chancellor of the Ahamdu Bello University, Prof. Ibrahim Garba represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Prof. Amans said the workshop was timely and needed at this time to grow crops of administrators who will be leaders of today instead of tomorrow.
