The call was made by the State Acting Director NOA Alhaji Nuru Yusuf Kobi at the closing ceremony of A 2-Days course on security and drug abuse awareness for staff, students and surrounding communities, that every organization should plan for it safety measures and other vulnerabilities must be properly look into, especially the menace and magnitude of personal security threats and how to reduce them. The Acting Director commended the Management of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi for taking the giant strive to raise and increase public awareness to the dangers inherent in drug abuse and trafficking.
Alhaji Nuru Kobi reiterate that the present administration accords priority to security in the country and advised members of the public to support the government to enable it succeed. Therefore urged the management of the institution to key into the Change Begins With Me programme for the growth and development of the society.
In his remarks, the Rector of the Polytechnic Engineer Dr. Shu’aibu Musa pledged it’s determination to ensure security and check drug abuse in the institution. Dr Shu’aibu Musa said the workshop was organised to discuss the current challenges facing the Polytechnic and Gwallameji community which he said include kidnapping and cultism with a view to finding solution to them. The Rector who was represented by his deputy Architect Sanusi Waziri Guman said the security Unit of the Polytechnic is working in close collaboration with other government security Agencies to ensure peace and security in the area. Engineer Shu’aibu Musa disclosed that Polytechnic through guidance and counselling unit recorded successes in containing the menace of drug abuse and enjoined Gwallameji community to partner with the Polytechnic to fish out undesirable elements in the area.
