National Orientation Agency in Bauchi State has mapped out strategies to educate members of the public on the needs to promote adult education and eradicate illiteracy. The State Acting Director of the Agency, Alhaji Nuru Yusuf Kobi dropped this hint when he granted audience to members of NOGALSS (NON-GOVERNMENTAL ASSOCIATION FOR LITERACY SUPPORT SERVICES) on a courtesy call in his office in Bauchi.
Alhaji Nuru Kobi expressed satisfaction with the objectives of the Association, describing them as partners in progress. He assured the readiness of the Agency to work hand in hand with Association so as to ensure literacy in the society, especially among communities living in the rural areas. The Acting Director expressed delight for the effort by the Association to come up with worthy objectives that will no doubt reduce societal vices in the State. He therefore called on the UnSchooled Children, Youth and adults who had missed the privilege of going to formal School and those who desired to know how to read and write especially our mothers to register with the program, because if you educate a woman, you educate a nation.
In his remarks the Deputy Zonal Coordinator of the Association incharge of the Northeastern Nigeria, Alh Yakubu Abubakar Saraki said women are the major target of the Association and therefore called on their Husbands to support them in that direction.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Association in the State Malam Sani A. Zailani informed the Agency, that the Association was established in 1993 with the aim of  complementing Government efforts in the provision of functional  Mass literacy and Basic education at all levels. Basic literacy to post literacy, continue education and vocational skills acquisitions.
According to him Nigerians need orientation on literacy, adding that they were at the Agency to seek for partnership to enable them achieve their set objectives .
