General managers of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Mrs. Teni Omoniyi Ajayi, Mr. Jonathan Chukwu Orji, and Mr. Bayo, visited the headquarters of the National Orientation Agency today to discuss areas of collaboration with Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency.

The DG NOA, in his words, recognises the new developments at NTA, particularly the specialised stations namely: NTA HAUSA, NTA YORUBA, NTA IGBO, NTA ENTERTAINMENT, and NTA KNOWLEDGE.

He emphasized that this approach meets today’s needs as communication is no longer mass but individualised and there is a necessity to speak to individuals in the language they best understand. The DG stated that it is essential for the activities and programmes of the government to be taken to the grassroots and communicated in Nigerian languages.

According to him, all communication barriers must be removed for communication to be effective. He went further to say that NOA is the best agency strategically positioned to carry out this task, having offices in all 774 LGAs and currently speaking 193 local languages.

The DG promised to continue working with NTA in communicating government policies and programmes to the people.
