The Fed Min of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHADMSD) today in Abuja, officially launched the Government Enterprise & Empowerment Programme (GEEP) 2.0 designed to provide access to credit for the poor and vulnerable people who are at the bottom of the economic pyramid, and are involved in active commercial activity but have never had the opportunity to access Federal Government assisted loans.

Director – General NOA, in a goodwill message at the event expressed delight in the Agency’s role in the implementation of GEEP 2.0 NOA where NOA Community Orientation & Mobilization Officers(COMOs) will serve as GEEP desk officers in all 774 LGAs. He also expressed satisfaction at the collaboration between NOA and state appointed GEEP Focal Persons and assured that NOA will use its structure nationwide to ensure the success of the programme.

The Honourable Minister, Fed Min of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq explained that GEEP 2.0 under its three classes; Tradermoni, MarketMoni and FarmerMoni is “structured to effectively deliver soft loans & skills to a wide range of unemployed citizens including persons living with disability, marginalized women and unemployed youth amongst other vulnerable groups in our society.”  She called on all Nigerians who are specially targeted by GEEP to take advantage of all that the programme offers so that the vision of  Mr. President to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 2030 will be accomplished.

GEEP, aims to offer interest and collateral free credit to the millions of Micro SMEs (MSMEs) operating at the bottom of the Nigerian economic pyramid by targeting the unbanked poor and vulnerable but skilled population that have always been left out on credit delivery programmes and is directed at providing soft and affordable loans to finance their businesses.
