The provision of public infrastructure and critical assets is one of the main responsibilities of Government considering its significance to National development. Government has subsequently invested huge resources to build and maintain public infrastructure across Nigeria in the expectation that community members residing in these areas where the infrastructure are domiciled will take special interest in protecting and preserving them.

However, reverse has been the case as evidence shows a growing and disturbing culture of vandalism perpetrated especially by youths due to many factors such as; ignorance, unemployment, lack of patriotism, violent protest among others. It is against this backdrop that NOA in furtherance of its mandate of attitudinal and value re-orientation organized a one-day stakeholders’ sensitization programme against destruction of public assets and critical infrastructure in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja.

The community based sensitization campaign is aimed at mobilizing citizens to take ownership for the protection of public infrastructure and also sensitize them on the negative effects of vandalization of public infrastructure in their domains.

NOA continues to call on Nigerians to take special interest in protecting public assets and critical infrastructure and report all acts of vandaalism to relevant security authorities.
