The Presidential Transition Council (PTC) on Saturday inaugurated a Social Media Team to amplify information on the council’s activities, debunk fake news and counter fake narratives.

The team, which is drawn from various government bodies, was inaugurated by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, Chairperson of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, Mrs. Lydia Jafiya, mni.

In her address, Jafiya said the team was expected to use its social media platforms to promote the right information on the PTC’s activities, debunk fake news and counter fake narratives.

She said, “The team is expected to use its social media platforms to amplify information on the PTC’s activities, debunk fake news and counter fake narratives.

“The team is also expected to engage with Nigerians on the PTC’s activities and to promote the PTC’s vision and mission.”

Jafiya urged the team to be professional and to always verify their information before posting it on social media.

She also urged the team to be respectful of other people’s views and to avoid engaging in personal attacks.

The team is made up of representatives from the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, National Orientation Agency, News Agency of Nigeria, Federal Ministry of foreign Affairs, and other government bodies.
