In order to ensure that Government programmes, policies and activities are better understood by the general public using social media, the National Orientation Agency, Kwara State Directorate organized a one-day workshop for the State Directorate staff to enhance knowledge sharing and information dissemination to the citizens.
The Seminar which was presented by Mallam Hussein Aliyu Mohammed of the PRS Department presented a paper titled “Social Media a tool for Social Mobilization” in his presentation said that Social Media plays a significant role in dissemination of information in the quest for transparency, acceptability, and good governance. Nigerians are actively Tweeting, Posting, Liking, and Commenting all across Social Media and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight.
Mallam Hussein also state that, the media have been vivacious in exposing cases of corruption impunity, violation of human rights, and embezzlement e.t.c in Nigeria
It was also an opportunity to enlighten Staff on how to avoid unsolicited Text Message and Calls by activating the “Do Not Disturb” code released by NCC. This enlightenment was done using guide lines made available by Nigeria Communication Commission NCC.
